update

It's been a while since I last updated, and since that's the whole point of this journal, to keep people up to date about my whereabouts and (non-)adventures, here's a summary of the last few weeks:
- Went to Berlin, loved the city, it's quiet giant streets, heaps of history, cheap sushi, fleamarket on the Boxy, the impressive Jewish museum, playing a theremin and the most fantastic office supply/papergoods store in Kreuzberg.
- I finished a book for Pica, about catty cats and a new neighbour dog, it'll be out in September.
- Last week I finally met the very friendly people from the Fiep Westendorp Foundation and the other awardees at de Balie, there were some talks about Fiep and I had a little presentation of my project and showed some sketches.

Here I am, with Floddertje and Chuck and Douwe (the other awardees). Picture taken by a friend of Chuck.
- Drawings of mine will be in the new Curvy and Grafuck editions,
- Exhibitions coming up in Bronnoysund, Norway and near the Nieuwmarkt / Waterlooplein, Amsterdam
- Speaking of which, tomorrow I'm moving to Amsterdam - which means yes, the Berlin plan has been postponed. By the irresistable lure of a spacious office building (zeg maar loods) in Amsterdam. My rooms to be will be ~90m2+22m2 and next to the highway. I know, 10 people could fit in there and live peacefully but I'm going to live there allll by myself, just me and all my drawings. I hope I can stay there for a while so I can peacefully work on my Fiep project there. Looking forward to it, and I hope Berlin will wait for me..
- A little party is on the way, as a little housewarming & to belatedly celebrate the fact I recently turned 25. Perhaps with singstar, perhaps with dance dance, perhaps next Friday or the weekend after.
- I got myself a new amplifier because the old one blew up, a lean mean 80's NAD, it's so pretty to look at, and it's so delicate and warm when it's gently whispering in my ear 'is this love, that i'm feeling, is this the love, that i've been searching for' (but it can be hard and loud too if I want to). In other words, I'm in love with a piece of electronics again, instead of fleshy and bloody boys.
- Yesterday I walked around all day with the vague remnants of an upside down head drawn on my chin, thanks to Annick's permanent marker ;) but it was worth it
- And now I'm off to pack in the last bits of all my stuff, I've been busy throwing away stuff for over a year now but still I can easily fill over 10m3 with STUFF. Hope that I get some decent uncluttering action going on the coming weeks. But it's hard if you see empty toilet rolls, egg cartons and old keyboards as topquality potential hobby materials.. Well, so far for this long textual update, perhaps some pictures and sketches again next time.

Cds

Finally made photos of two cds I made designs for.
This one is for faraway tea-stained memories and pensive moods.

Made this one last autumn, it's for an experimental death/black metal band from friends. Lots of surprises and contrasts.
